MUSIC IS LIFE PROJECT -
Artist Reciprocation Program
A Community Development Project
Presented by Aubry Padmore, Author, Empowerment Coach & Co-Founder Caribbean Voice Radio Inc – Atlanta, Georgia
THE VISION of the Music Is Life Project is to provide cohesive information (synergy) geared towards working dreams and goals into reality. We will do this by providing "purpose driven" information and activities by utilizing seminars, workshops, publications, health & better life conferences, e-conferences, retreats, tradeshows and other events that will provoke artists to positive action in order to accomplish their dreams and goals. All this will be done as an alliance of motivators from all segments of the empowerment process.
THE PROGRAM
The Artist Reciprocation Program is geared towards any American artist (Independent or Signed (for the time being)) with the need for promotional exposure who can visit Barbados to perform with Kirk Brown and Strategy The Band at The Ship Inn or other locales and have the opportunity to drop a single with the band (and possibly a music video). The artist may also extend an invitation to friends, relatives, neighbors and others to come experience the Caribbean and their performance with Strategy The Band at the Ship Inn and elsewhere for the weekend. Fans may choose to extend their stay and take in other amenities on the Island of Barbados.
Why Kirk Brown and Strategy The Band
The Band personifies the entrepreneurial spirit in the music industry of Barbados. It qualifies as crossover music, thereby giving the band international status. Attention to detail and a caring consistent heart for people, music and its fans separate this band from the average group found on several islands. Kirk’s professionalism and dedication spans his interest in music, and his love for people, youth and his island has given the organizers of the Music Is Life Project the inspiration to apply support resources to for an artist reciprocation program.
Comments about Kirk Brown and Strategy The Band

“I could not believe they actually stood on the side of the stage and offered background support for Edwin Yearwood at Agrofest 2010, this was my first trip to Barbados and I am not sure if they do that for all the people on stage but it was a unique touch to the performance.” Charlene Bowden, CSB Management Group, Atlanta.
“Kirk Brown and Tejay are wonderful performers, I enjoyed having them in the studio to participate in our Christmas show earmarked for the troops in Iraq. I didn’t know who they were but when Aubry called and said they were coming I welcomed them and the interview and performance was worth the effort.” Grace Ferranti, Award- Winning Producer of Editorial Opinion, SI Community TV Staten Island, New York
The program calls for the hosted artist to create a reciprocal opportunity in their state, island or country designed to create a similar outcome for Kirk Brown and Strategy The Band. Ultimately we are hoping this will gather momentum and become an international and regional music and performance program that can assist artists in becoming exposed and promote them as serious artistic products. The program will not be limited to musicians but will incorporate poets, dancers, and other artistically inclined performers who can enhance the program.
HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
The artist will pay for their trip or gather sponsorship for their trip to Barbados). The goal is to promote the artist, venue and sponsors as either service indigenous and/or tourism products. We will negotiate special pricing with local hotels, motels and other accredited lodging venues for weekend stays as necessary.
How Does the Artist Benefit
The artist will make money from selling their CD, DVD or other promotional and sales products as part of their product line and any additional gig/booking requests that come as a result of the exposure they gain from their performance. In the event that they do not have a product, we may be inclined to assist in this effort.
We are hoping that bookings from other clients will arise out of the Artist Reciprocation Program. Should bookings arise from these events the artist will handle their own booking requirements as per their management and internal performance structure.
A test of this program was conducted as a constructive action between Keldamuzik (California) and Kirk Brown (Barbados) that took place on February 25, 2010 in Barbados at The Shipp Inn, with supporting accommodations sponsored by our partner hotels in Barbados, Blue Orchid and Coral Mist. Both participants in the program found it to be of value to their art form and have collaborated on a music single “Wind Blow Remix” and a music video of the same name to be released soon. We also promoted Kirk Brown and Strategy The Band in New York under the auspices of Grace Ferranti of Caring About People Slo-Mo Visual Productions Inc.
The second installment of the reciprocation program is scheduled for the September, 2010 weekend and will host award winning Karsten Durand from Atlanta along with Strategy The Band. Karsten is a musician and empowerment coach who has the uncanny ability to merge his craft with his speaking engagements (http://www.karstendurand.com). The promotion of the event, including music played and other marketing, will be provided by Carib Voice Radio and its affiliates worldwide, along with other media houses interested in promoting the event.
We hope this program will generate enough interest, sponsorship and audience support to be able to create a dream building foundation that aids the artists who participate in the program. We are also hope it will assists those who have showcased their ability as a musical product but lack the fiscal support necessary to accomplish their goal.
