MEDIA ADVISORY: NATIONAL IMMIGRANT AND CARIBBEAN HERITAGE MONTH SMALL BUSINESS TOUR

 

NEW YORK—TOMORROW, NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce will celebrate National Immigrant and Caribbean Heritage Month with a commercial corridor tour in Flatbush, Brooklyn. The tour will include a visit to 15 Caribbean small businesses. 

 

Business owners will have the opportunity to ask questions and access free resources to help their businesses thrive.

NYC EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HOSTS GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR 38 COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT) VOLUNTEERS
 
What:            The New York City Emergency Management Department is adding 38 new volunteers to the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. The new CERT graduates completed a five-week training program in disaster preparedness and basic emergency response skills that included lessons in fire safety, search and rescue, traffic management, first aid and triage, and human services.
 
                        This is the 31st graduating class since the New York City CERT program launched in 2003. Seventeen graduates will join CERTs in Brooklyn, ten will join the Staten Island team, eight will join Manhattan teams, and three will join Queens CERTs.  There are more than 1,300 CERT volunteers throughout New York City.
 
During the ceremony, New York City Emergency Management Commissioner Joseph Esposito, NYPD Deputy Inspector Phylis Byrne, and FDNY Deputy Chief Jim Brosi will welcome the new volunteers and present their graduate certificates.
