PHILIP GOMES BRINGS FRESH CULINARY CREATIONS TO TORTOLA AS EXECUTIVE CHEF AT LONG BAY BEACH RESORT & VILLAS
Elite Island Resorts welcomes newest culinary team member
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – November 10, 2011 – Elite Island 
Resorts is pleased to announce that Philip Gomes has been named executive chef at Long Bay Beach Resort & Villas in Tortola . Gomes arrives with a wealth of experience after working for a number of upscale hotels and restaurants in destinations such as Dubai , Bermuda, Grand Cayman and the British Virgin Islands . Gomes holds a culinary certificate from the National Hotel and Tourism Training Institution in Bangladesh .
“Philip Gomes is a very skilled and professional culinary artist, and we are very impressed with his creativity in the kitchen as well as his food presentation,” said Elite Island Resorts President Steven Heydt. “His culinary strengths lie in Italian and Indian cuisine, so we are anticipating great things from him as he leads the culinary team at both of our exquisite restaurants. Gomes will oversee the resort’s two restaurants: 1748 and Pasta House. 1748, an informal beachfront restaurant set on the ground floor of a renovated 18th-century sugar mill, serves a breakfast buffet as well as full lunch and dinner menus offering dishes from grilled burgers to fresh seafood to outdoor barbeque. The resort’s formal Pasta House serves traditional Italian cuisine complimented by fine wines and ocean views.
Prior to joining Elite Island Resorts, Gomes was sous chef at The Nail Bay Resort in Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands . He also served with the Lighthouse Seafood & Italian Restaurant in Grand Cayman and the Elbow Beach Hotel and Lido Italian Restaurant in Bermuda . Gomes also has experience working as a sous chef in Dhaka , Bangladesh . He is fluent in English, Bangla and Hindi.
